• Write and produce 60-second radio commercial raising awareness of Blackpool’s mental health issues and helping to remove the stigma and fear attached to mental illness.
  • To encourage people to go and see their GP or call a dedicated phone line if they need help or advice.

  • Research and discuss Blackpool’s specific mental health circumstances
  • Understand the ‘Altogether Now’ project, it’s aims and objectives
  • Engage in a real-world project with direct local relevance
  • Take part in bespoke ucreate Creative Sessions – half-day lessons, led by a radio producer during which they learned about how persuasive messages are created and constructed as well as creative writing and production techniques.  Students wrote and produced their own commercial during the lesson

“We were impressed with the emotive messages the commercials communicated. Involving
children from local schools helps support the messages we need to get out into the community.
The social media challenge that ran alongside the commercials ensured that more of the local population received those all important messages about mental health services.”
